Ben Reid was born in Akaroa in 1974. He studied at Christchurch Polytechnic School of Art and Design, graduating with a degree in Visual Art in 2005.

Ben lives in Christchurch and works as an assistant printer to Marian Maguire, owner of PaperGraphica, a workshop specializing in printing high quality limited edition lithographs, woodcuts and etchings for leading New Zealand artists.

Reid's recent works explore conservation themes and incorporate patterning reminiscent of Victorian wallpaper behind drypoint drawings featuring endangered bird life.
