With twenty years of teaching experience in the arts Basia Smolnicki continues to tutor at local private and public institutions teaching printmaking and drawing alongside her own art practice. Additional to the artist's print works, Basia produces computer cut vinyl and hand-cut designs sandblasted on glass, mirror and metal.

Smolnicki's new work featured in the exhibition Objectivity recycles forms and shapes found washed up on beaches, city streets and in household refuse. The prints reflect the artist's concerns about waste found on the natural coastline, rivers and built environment. The cut vinyl installation portrays an icon - a found object - enhanced and enlarged as a celebrated tribute to global consumerism.
