Marty Vreede: Implement of Change

8 September - 2 October 2010

An exhibition of new etchings by Marty Vreede.

'Implement of Change' - an exhibition of etchings by Whanganui artist Marty Vreede, refers in part to the transformative power of drawing and art-making. This body of work is drawn from artefacts from the Whanganui Museum. It marks a fresh direction for Marty and a new pathway of discovery in his sensitive rendering of these elegant and culturally significant objects.

Attracted by stories, both old and new, held deep within these timeless objects, Marty through the act of drawing and printmaking, weaves from them new stories of personal meaning. He draws strength from their symbolism and beauty from their form. "They hold their breath and hold the key to another journey."
