An exhibition of new bamboo engravings and screenprints on linen by Stanley Palmer.

Stanley Palmer’s art over the past four decades can be seen as a deeply wrought and highly personal chart of Aotearoa New Zealand, mining the depths of his own recollections as well as tapping into historical memory and, beyond that, the geological past. He remains fascinated by the way landscape can function as a vehicle for conveying much more than topographical information. [1]

This exhibition at Solander Works on Paper features new works of Stanley’s signature bamboo engraved panoramic landscapes along with two new large multicolour screenprints on linen and are testament to the artists enduring fascination with “…things at the end where the road peters out, the edge between the civilised and where we have no control at all”.[2]

Stanley has had regular and numerous one-man exhibitions at leading galleries in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. His works are in countless homes and part of Public and Private collections throughout New Zealand including Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand, Wellington.
